Mystical and Esoteric

Although the Inca culture was nearly lost during the colonization process, the communities have managed to preserve all these well-rooted traditions in the heart of the Peruvian Andes. Therefore, nowadays, the Andean cosmovision and the Inca mysticism remain in the hearts of the local population.

Many tourists come to Peru thanks to its beautiful natural resources and history, but also to look for guidance through esoteric activities where ancestral customs take them on a more spiritual-oriented journey.

There are several ceremonies intended for the healing of the mind and the soul, as well as to create an unbreakable bond between you and your loved one. Likewise, the Andean traditions revolve around the elements, the Earth itself, and the spirits of the mountains.

For that reason, different rituals are performed in Cusco and its surrounding, specially because it is covered in an everlasting spiritual energy. Keep reading and find out about the different esoteric experiences we have for you in Viagens Machu Picchu!

Andean Wedding

For those looking for a more profound romantic experience through the Andes, there is a distinctive bonding ritual that grants the Pachamama’s blessing and protection to the newly wed couple. It also serves as a vote renovation for those who have been previously married but want to bind their souls to the prosperity and guidance of Mother Earth.

The celebration is often made in a previously selected site, surrounded by mountains and the exuberant nature of the region. Therefore, a well-prepared shaman must guide the ceremony, which is why we have structured a special travel package where a Queros Shaman will lead the whole experience.

The so-called Arac Masin, is carried out after the cleaning and purification of the aura, some other rituals also include a fire ceremony, which strips away any bad energy thanks to the fire mystical power. If you wish to be part of this experience, please check our travel package and strengthen your spiritual bond with your loved one.

Sacred Fire Ritual

During the Inca Times, fire was considered a sacred element since they believed that it’s “power” transformed dense and dark energy into light. This “heavy” energy was represented by wood or other solid materials in ceremonies.

The Sacred Fire Ritual looks to cleanse the mind and spirit of all negative aspects. Likewise, our ancestors used fire to celebrate and strengthen the bond between the body and soul through prayers to show gratitude and ask for protection

The ceremony takes place in an open-sky natural environment, where the shamans gather around the fire. Later, they pray to the universe and the Pachamama (Mother Earth) with songs and musical instruments, asking to cleanse their souls and minds, and to enlighten the path towards the inner self to live in alignment and balance with the world.

If you wish to experience this at its fullest, you’d be glad to know that we count with this activity and you can include it in your Cusco itinerary. Also, we have structured the Andean Wedding package so you can take part of this spiritual enlightenment before the Arac Masin ceremony. For more information, please contact us.

Ayahuasca

For most travelers coming to Peru for esoteric activities, the Ayahuasca Ceremony is the main thing to do. The ancient ceremony is part of the Amazonian and Andean cultures and it’s used to purify the mind and spirit.

The Ayahuasca ritual takes place in a quiet location surrounded by nature, where people gather in a circle to drink this distinctive beverage, known for its healing and psychedelic properties. The spiritual guide recites some prayers, then smokes through a wood pipe to attract good spirits to help the person throughout the whole process. Later, the person must drink the liquid until the very last drop.

The ceremony can take up to 3 hours to be completed. However, the person may suffer the secondary effects of this drink, such as dizziness and vomit, which represent the cleansing of the body. As well as experiencing a strong connection with the psyche, where long-forgotten memories may resurface in order to reconcile and forgive their inner selves.

If you wish to include the Ayahuasca ceremony in your travel package, please contact your travel agent.

San Pedro

Just like the Ayahuasca ceremony, The ritual seeks to improve the mental, emotional and physical balance of the participant by cleansing the soul and spirit of hidden traumas and negative energy accumulated throughout their life.

The San Pedro beverage also presents psychological and physical alterations, some people can experience a sensation of drowsiness or drunkenness but in a full state of consciousness, though the effects can be mild compared to the ones caused by the Ayahuasca plant.

A well-experienced shaman will lead the ceremony, starting with prayers intended to ask permission of the plant and invoking the protectors of the Earth. Then, the ritual continues with song, whistles, and musical instruments throughout the whole process.

Psychologically speaking, the San Pedro and Ayahuasca ceremonies have shown great results in connecting persons with their inner selves, they have also helped with addiction and depression issues.
