These beautiful gardens offer a total immersion in the natural scenery of Machu Picchu and Aguas Calientes. The Jardines de Mandor are located right at the foothills of the Huayna Picchu Mountain, the imposing peak behind every classic picture of the historic sanctuary.
The Ecological Reserve has been maintained by the same family since the 1960s though they didn’t open their doors to the public until the 90s. Jardines de Mandor looks to preserve the local flora and fauna by raising awareness and allowing visitors to experience it at its fullest.
If you didn’t know, the Machu Picchu region was chosen as the Best Green Destiny of the World in 2012, thanks to its jaw-dropping landscapes suitable for an enormous diversity of wildlife. There are around 2,354 documented plant species, including 400 types of orchids.
Luckily, the Mandor paradise is located only a few kilometers from Aguas Calientes, making it the best option to visit if you have some spare time in town.
As aforementioned, the Jardines de Mandor are located about 3 kilometers away from Aguas Calientes town. The gardens are situated right at the foothills of the Huayna Picchu Mountain. To get there, you just need to follow the rail tracks in direction to Hidroelectrica.
After walking a bit more than 2 kilometers, you’ll find a sign pointing in the direction to Mandorpampa, you just need to follow the trail that will lead you to the ticket office, pay the entrance fee and start exploring!
