Where to Eat in Machu Picchu

Where to Eat in Machu Picchu

You will be exploring this Inca citadel for several hours. Walking and doing physical activity could be pretty exhausting. Climbing up and down its terraces, including Huayna Picchu, is no easy feat. For that, we recommend you have meals that will serve you well.

Eating inside the archaeological site is not allowed. The nearest place for meals is a snack bar located outside and very close to the park's entrance. It sells sandwiches, snacks, water, cookies, soda, and other food items. On the other side, in the town of  Aguas Calientes, are many and varied dining options. Here, you will find various restaurants. Many have a beautiful view of the Urubamba River and mainly offer Peruvian food.

Peruvian Food

This region's restaurants offer traditional dishes. For example, lomo saltado is beef and potatoes. Causa rellena is a smashed potato meal with chicken or fish filling mixed with mayo. Papa a la huancaína is potatoes with a yellow and spicy sauce. Ceviche is a cold dish with raw fish, lemon juice, and onion. In various restaurants there, you will also find dishes from international cuisine. You might enjoy Italian, French, or Japanese food. In Peru, some people prefer daring choices like cuy, or guinea pig, considered a local delicacy. Look at this blog so you can learn about delicious Peruvian food restaurants when you are in Cusco City.
