General information

1. If the tour is canceled due to weather conditions, do I get a refund?
Tour cancellations due to bad weather conditions have no refund, as they are factors beyond our control.

2. During the trip to Machu Picchu, where will my biggest luggage stay?

Bags that weigh more than 5kg are not allowed on the train or in the Archeological Site of Machu Picchu. Therefore, you must leave your large luggage in the storage service of your accommodation.

For your trip to Machu Picchu, we highly recommend you to carry a light backpack with just the essentials for your comfort.

3. Can I choose seats on train trips?
Unfortunately, Peru Rail (the railway company) does not allow passengers to choose seats on any of their different types of train. The distribution of these is done automatically by the company’s system.

4. What is the best train for Machu Picchu: Expedition or Vistadome?
We recommend you take the Expedition train on the way to Aguas Calientes since most of the departure times are generally when it’s already dark. The expedition train has simpler wagons with smaller windows.

Usually, the return takes place during daylight, which is why we would recommend you taking the Vistadome train with panoramic windows to enjoy the visually striking scenery this road has to offer. In addition, the Vistadome train offers limited onboard beverage service and typical dance shows along the way.

5. Are the train tickets included in the package?
Yes, all of our packages include round trip train tickets. Except for those who may choose to go to Machu Picchu by trek. In this case, we’ll only cover the return ticket.

6. Is it recommended traveling to Peru with children?
Peru is a destination for everybody, the country offers a variety of attractions for kids of all ages. We only recommend you to go on lighter routes, avoiding long and difficult walks, or heavy trips.

7. Do I need a Visa to enter Peru?
Citizens of Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia, can enter Peru only by presenting their national identification document.

In the case of countries such as Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica and others; they must present their passport with a minimum validity of 06 months counting from their entry into the Peruvian territory.

8. Is it mandatory to have a yellow fever vaccine?
The yellow fever vaccine is NOT mandatory for those who visit Peru, but it is an additional precaution, mainly because it is a tropical country.

9. Is travel insurance required?
Travel insurance is not compulsory. It is very important, especially for those who are committing to physically demanding activities such as hikes or any adventure sports.
To contract the service, please contact your travel agent.

10. Socket and voltage in Peru:
The standard voltage in Peru is 220 volts at 60 hertz, but some hotels have transformers that reduce the voltage up to 110 volts.

Currently, there are three types of power sockets and plugs in Peru: Type A, Type B, and Type C. If you have any devices that require a different type of socket, we advise you to carry an adapter with you

11. What is the best currency to use in Peru: US Dollars or Soles?
Almost all businesses accept payments in US Dollars, but we highly recommend you having Dollars and Soles (the local currency) since there might be places where you’ll need to pay with the Peruvian currency.

12. Where to exchange money?
We highly recommend you exchanging money at a trustworthy agency recommended by our team. Some debit and credit cards are also accepted to make purchases and pay for services. It’s worth mentioning that you can withdraw US Dollars and Soles from most ATMs.

13. What's the weather like in Peru?
The country's climate is divided into 4 marked seasons: Winter, Summer, Spring and Autumn. But as a consequence of climate change, in recent years, two well-marked seasons differ; Rainy Season and Dry Season.

The rainy season runs from December to March and the Dry season from April to November. In the Cusco and Machu Picchu region, there is a significant temperature variation, and the rainy season is much more marked. Generally, the maximum temperature is around 24°C and the minimum is close to -2°C.

14. How to avoid altitude sickness?
The best way to approach altitude is by ascending slowly and gradually, spending at least 24 hours every 2,000 ft. We recommend you take Diamox pills, drink coca tea or chew coca leaves, keep yourself hydrated, and eat small meals during the first days.
